The solid waste
management experience in the "capital of the nation's capital"
reaffirmed the fact that its a critical problem with affluent urban
communities with high levels of consumption.
The SWM Program in MCBD clearly illustrated that a lot can be achieved
when corporate., non-government, and community organizations worked
together.

Beta Corporation was thinking of doubling its entire plant capacity by
investing in new fixed assets of P10 million since its factory had already
reached full capacity. The new machinery would be depreciated over
ten years. Additional working capital would likewise
be required in the same proportion to sales as that obtained in 2002.

| Greening the Supply Chain |
| by:
Prof. Purba Halady Rao |
|
The
book presents academic concepts applied to real-life
scenarios with a focus on SE Asia. The
first four chapters dwell on greening initiatives in the
inbound, production, and outbound phases. The final
chapter presents the research findings from a survey of
companies in five countries, the associated research
methodology that helped determine the significant driving
forces that led companies to go for greening the supply
chain, and the obstacles and challenges faced in such
implementations. The fifth chapter addresses a
critical concern – to check if greening the different
phases of the supply chain does lead to competitive
advantage & economic performance of the firm.

| The
Asian Manager |
 |
|
There are about two thousand, or more, schools of business & management across the world. About seven hundred of those schools exist in Asia. A striking majority of these schools have embarked quite recently in the sphere of management
educa- tion and the reason for their proliferation is no longer mysterious or mystifying to most of us. There are a few exceptions to these new schools and most of these have been remarkably phenomenal in
their endeavors over a noticeable
period.
|
|
The
Road Ahead
|
|
|
|
These schools have spent a considerable time and
covered a significant distance from their onset and one of
them clearly stands out in the region today.
This is an institute that is small, lives within its
means, and does more with less. Yet it stands up to its values and
convictions and whenever and wherever it can make a lasting
difference, it does more, not less. This is a place with an
extraordinary tradition of blending theory and practice.
|
This is a
place where men and women who impart learning and share their
experiences are leaders and practitioners in their respective
fields. This is also a place where decisive contributions to
knowledge are made year after year, in light of the changes taking
place in and around the planet.
